Description

The magic of a nest in these hand sized wool felt nest.

This nest with its speckled eggs is based on the gold finches nest. The goldfinches eggs are usually pale with brown and red-coloured freckles and they usually appear to nest in areas with scattered trees and shrubs often in gardens. The nest itself is neatly constructed from grasses, moss, roots and lichens, interwoven with wool and fluff. Goldfinches breeding begins in late April and most pairs will attempt two to three broods. Each clutch consists of approximately 3 – 7 chicks.

I just adore nests… That wonderful feeling when you spot a nest … that secret sacred place, woven with such care, lined with cow web silk, nose, feathers, wool and then with the utterly beautiful treasure of eggs laid inside.

I wanted to create a nest for our home nature table/ alter … and these wool nest came into being.

A crochet nest made from our organic wool and then needle felted into with the details of the gathered material lining it ( all in wool )and then three woollen eggs.
